it's coming together

I prefer real flowers, just like everyone else, but I also have a need for
instant gratification.
So I depend on my good friend Nancy, at Sullivan's, to provide me with some top quality goods. The only thing they lack is the smell, and of course, the need for water and the dirt.
Sometimes all your vignette needs is a simple splash of color and wa~la

the lanterns come in 3 fun sizes.... the large and small are shown here and the medium was featured in the last post.

fun french wall clocks, and check out the pillows... frayed and patched....

the sprinkling of empty pots was the finishing touch

look at all the fun goodies you can display in the big dog lantern

the travelers case is complete with drawers and hangers

love the stitching

... today is vintage / junk finds day... I am in the need for the rusty ~ crusty ~ chippy

Number envy

A friend stopped by the Barn the other day, and while admiring my numbered pots, I heard her say, "what is it about numbers.... you put a number on a rusty pot and I am instantly in love with it." Isn't that the truth! Put a number on just about anything and I am envious.
I covet it. I want it for my own collection.
I think that is why I am so drawn to clocks....the simplicity of the numbers.

also just in... telescoping ~ tarnished silver ~ display pieces, and wooden lanterns with fun metal tops

i love this picture

The book title says it all.
What we are all after... a few simple pieces to make our simple home a little bit more ours, a little bit more it.
the sun is shining and I am off to play at my Barn....L

Love the Moss!

Too early here in Minnesota to plant anything outside. BUT... the outdoors needed to have some Spring Flair for the open house.... what else is there... Moss, of course.

the moss adds that touch of green that we are all longing for after a long winter

I got these guys planted, so to speak, before the dirt re-froze....whew.

I had just enough birds to do the 3 main window boxes.
The birds were delivered, broken, for last years winter garden there they sat, all winter, broken, waiting for me to find them a purpose....and wa-la... they have found a home in the boxes. Welcoming spring and all of my guests.

thanks for stopping.
more visual love coming your way soon. L

Event ~ Welcome

I look forward every Spring to the open house event. It is like Christmas all over again.
Loads of eager guests arrive with plans for change, to seek inspiration and to start new projects.
I had time to redo one of the front vignettes just in time.....

I think everyone needs a vintage sink in the entryway.

Local artist, Laurie Bouta, has some fun art on display here at the Barn.

the burlap ribbon I brought out last winter is still the hottest thing around. LOVe.

vintage bottles from Europe

bean sprouts!!!
It's cold today in Minnesota; however, the sun is shining. We can conquer the world, as long as the sun is shining...can you tell I am a Leo.

Layer it on. Change it up.

Time for a refresh. Have you ever looked at an area in your house and thought I am done looking at that mess.   Or maybe it's just time...
