On the Hunt

As you know I am an avid Hunter - Gatherer - Picker.
Those of you who follow this blog are probably hunters also.  You don't have to think about it... it just happens. You are out and about and suddenly your car is full of random treasures.

In this vignette, the bowls are chipped and cracked - all the more beautiful.  I have a bowl at home and Mr Miller says one day, "why don't you turn that bowl so the chipped side is hidden...." In my mind I think... "why would I display it then... "

The beauty is in the imperfection.
The random crack and chip.

my super size Santos

for all of you that have chair fetishes ... this canvas is fabulous.

paper flowers and paper garland...

If you own your own shop, or if you do the pop-up shows, a deconstructed chair is a must.

I'm off to play at the Barn.
My Atlanta finds are arriving in the masses.
The UPS guy said our shipment yesterday was bigger then the one he dropped at Walmart.

You know I don't do anything half-assed.
When I'm out buying - I BUY !!

As you can imagine, the buying is fun...the hunt. Being on the receiving end, back at the Barn, is also fun... it's like Christmas... you can't wait to open the box and see what's inside. AND then the fun continues because you get to put on the stylist hat and turn these random goods into fabulous displays !!

As I have said before " Life is good ! "

Come in and see for yourself.

My Pup-pers.

Some how it has happened.
I don't know when it started, but I now have a collection started of vintage pups.

Some sell every now and then...most just look good in the shop.
At times they are huddled together... and other days they are spread all over the Barn.
In this vignette sit my latest two finds.

Look at this little Frenchie... a little banged up, which only adds to his charm.

For those of you who have a thing for old wooden crates
( me. me. me. )
We have an extra big one with the TORO Corp. stamp.
Probably 3 feet long...

Note the shelf in the back.
The birch branch and metal tag are part of the charm
... made by Sue Wolfe, Destination art.

wheels, wheels, wheels ....

The color is extra special on both the globe and the chippy chair .

Lots more happening... stay tuned.

Summer Activity

It has been a whirlwind of activity at the Barn this past week.
For all you shop owners out there, isn't it true, when you are gone all the big items sell. Or should I say... the main item in a certain vignette sells, which in turn destroys the look and the whole thing needs to be re-done. We also had a huge buffet, one that is a mainstay... It has been here since I started the Pottin' Company. Well it SOLD. Out the door she went.... Aaah, lots of change.  At my shop, a big piece is usually 5 layers deep with extra product, so it's a BIG deal when it goes out the door.
Anyway, fun times...
Just in time for the flip to Autumn....

Not that I am bringing out pumpkins just yet... but soon.

As for where I went ...I was gone for a week - Atlanta ... on a buying trip.

For those of you who read the blog regularly, know I normally go to Atlanta in January. Last January I was actually  toying with the idea of selling the business.  Eek ! I said it out loud !  So with that said, I did not do any buying for 4th quarter.  As summer approached, I realized I better get busy or I would have an empty Barn come September.   Not acceptable !!

So I bought plane tickets, booked a room, grabbed my mom, met my sister ( she drives from Charleston, SC) and spent a ton of money !! Ate and drank !! Laughed and had a blast !!
Atlanta is quite nice in July and travel was easier then  going in January and fighting the snow and ice.

Can't wait to show you my finds !
Things are already arriving...

I love this vintage chair.
I originally purchased it for my house...
You know how it goes, not everything can come home with me.

my crowned creatures are new ... first arrivals.
Oh yes, I already have items arriving daily, I think boxes were stacked up when I arrived home.

So cute.

More stories and more photos tomorrow.

I must say we are selling paint like crazy.  Everyone is busy doing projects !!  I love it!!  The Miss Mustard seed's paint line is a huge success in this part of town.

ta-ta for now !

Jeanne d'Arc Living magazine

This one is number 8 for 2014
I really can't believe we are heading into the 8th month of the year.
but who doesn't love AUGUST ... my birthday month !!

Sorry I have been away from blog - land for so long...
I left for Atlanta ... buying trip,
my son closed on his house .... we were the moving crew,
my computer lost it's wireless capability .... my fault some rogue switch on the side.

How dumb is that to put an on - off switch on the side to disable the wireless.
Anyway, after a week, I was able to fix... on my own, I might add. So we are back in business... tons of posts to get caught up on.  In the mean time, check out some of the pictures of the
upcoming Jeanne d'Arc Living magazine.

As you know, it is shipped from Denmark and features this fabulous French-Nordic design.

The climate is much like ours here in Minnesota.
Four fabulous seasons.

This issue should arrive next week at the Barn.
call to reserve your copy.

I have 1 - 2 back issues also, if you need to catch up.

ta-ta for now

Good morning.
It is such a beautiful day here in Minnesota

Finally, I feel like summer has arrived.

Outside at my place.
The vine from the back fence is finally coming around to the front. It is filling in quite nicely if you ask me. I was outside yesterday doing some weeding.. .. that's what happens when you get a month of rain. WEEDs! !!

Anyway, I looked up and thought I need to photograph that corner and share with my blog friends.

Lots happening this week

Inspection on my son's new house.. .. fingers crossed. ..it mean's he is moving out!
