Six Things About Me... I've been "tagged"

Six things about me.

Thank You, Andrea of the renowned Junk Fest - foursome. I have been "tagged" which means share 6 things about yourself with your readers and then TAG 6 fellow blogger's.

So I started by making my you all know I love and live by "The List"

Family, career, things I love, food, drink. Big Categories. As I sat in bed last night reading and eating my beloved gummy bears, I thought...oh, I'll have to mention I love to read, and that I love gummy bears, and that....good golly, I could go on forever and I'm sure you would rather look at pictures. So here is the skinny...

1. Jerry and I have been friends for 28 years. We've been together as a couple for 26 years. Yikes. We have two - boy - children. Logan 24 & Daniel 18. Both gorgeous, fun, world- at-their-feet-kinda-boys. My little hound, Madison, Love Her! She drives everyone crazy with her bad habits and bad breath...she's been known to down a few gummy bears herself.

2. Career. Not to bore you but I am an advanced practice nurse. I work in one of our major metropolitan hospitals here in the Twin Cities. My specialty is in Cardiac Surgery. I work with two great surgeons, Dr. Christopher Heck and Dr. Michael King.

I also own and run the Round Barn Potting Company. I am starting my 3rd year as the "new owner." I'll forever be the new owner even tho. the Potting Co. never existed before me. The Barn; however, has housed 3 other businesses before me, so there you go... "new owner."

3. Things that bring me joy in life...besides a major league busy day at my Barn....are gardening, shopping, and reading. My compulsions are making lists and then breaking the lists down into new lists and then redoing the list as the day goes on... crazy (or so my husband tells me) ... I also Love getting my hair done.

4. Things I buy when I am out besides flowers and books... Vintage tee's. Love them. I am a sucker. I buy them by the handful. I wear 2-3 at a time sometimes. Also, handbags...most times they are only used for a week or two and then I land upon another "omg...I have to have will be the last one I ever buy and I'll use it Forever!! I promise..." My next goal, is to design my own line of's good to have goals, right? Even if you're to busy for laundry and such... and I can't leave out the jewelry and shoes...oh, and coats, in the Fall. Good thing I have two full time jobs!

5. Something new to me that I am learning to enjoy is food. I know, you are thinking what the... but food has always been just filler to me. Eat when you need something, find something fast and easy, and then get back to what you were doing before the interruption. My husband is teaching me how to take the time and enjoy food...and I am figuring it out. Food is long as he prepares it! Wine, beer or margaritas are also my drinks of choice.

6. My newest pleasure that I need mentioning is blogging. Thanks to all of you...

I'll have to ponder my tagging obligation...

...gotta run. Hugs, Lori

Happy 70th Birthday Mom

Memorial Day Bliss

Love Memorial weekend when the weather is nice. The weather here was pure bliss. I felt like my little free and oh, so happy.
After the winds last week we had some downed soldiers, but it was easy to decide who was going to the vase.

Sweet sunshine. My backyard is the perfect playground for adults. Gardens, grilling, relaxation and more gardens.

Here is my latest project. A fun herb garden. We have already been sampling the Rosemary and Basil. Delish!

The Rosemary topiary is my pride and joy.

Getting the grilling station ready. I bought the sign last year...yep, at the Barn.
A Sue Wolf original.

Lots of perennials. I'll be sure to do a back yard tour as I get more done.
Can I come out yet?

The girls are back in town

The girls are back in town ... after visiting for the first time last November, they vowed to be back. There is nothing better then a road trip... they drove over and then down, from the U.P. - Upper Peninsula. Hancock, Michigan to be exact.

Chris and the girls arrived Saturday afternoon with smiles on their faces and started loading up as soon as they entered the shop. Luckily, they drove down and experienced one of the nicest weekends we have had around these parts all Spring. No rain and no 50 mph winds, nothing but sunshine and glorious 70 degrees. So after hours of quality Barn time, I offered my Minnesota Hospitality and invited the gang over to my see more Barn stuff of course and to relax outside for a little happy hour ... besides, all the other stores in town had closed ;) I think, subconsciously, I planned it this way to keep my guests all to myself.

Some changes at the store...

Chris and Lori trying to decide what fun things they could possibly do with my vintage garden cart.

Early riser? What's better then scones and coffee as the sun rises... cock-a-doodle-do

Melissa, part of the "Pottin Co. fan club" flew in from Seattle, Washington.

Finally, we can grill out!

On the second trip around the Barn, Chris's eye caught the funky chalk board made out of an old drawer.

"oh yeah, that's coming with me!"

...too fun

After some relaxation at my place, Chris treated us all for Margaritas and dinner at the local Mexican eatery. Yummy. Lisa was excited...the margaritas came in a pitcher!
The guys loved us

Lori, Melissa, Chris (the stocker) and Lisa

They claimed that the overhead carrier was strictly for carrying junk back home...and believe me, these gals came down to shop!

Chris, thank you again for everything. I can't wait for November! L

Third issue is here

Inspiration presents itself in many different ways. Today, inspiration finds me in the form of pictures in a magazine. Oh yeah, it's here. The latest issue of Jeanne d' Arc Living. If you haven't heard, it's a fantastic magazine from Denmark, filled with pictures that will have you drooling in no time.

My copy has been with me since I brought it home...bedroom, kitchen, back yard...etc. I'm sure you get the picture... of me drooling that is.

This issue is moving fast, after the pile is shipped out on Tuesday, we will have about 12 copies left. I also have a few copies of the March issue still hanging around if anyone is interested.

Now for me, I am off to the front stoop...a little coffee, a little sunshine and a little inspiration.
peace ~ Lori

Pictures of my latest Summertime creation. Rocks and shells and sand. Everything that reminds me of summer at the beach. Today we even have the heat to go along with our imagination. 93degrees today ~ unfortunately we had 30 - 50 mph winds to go along with the heat. It was actually unpleasant because the windows had to be kept closed. At the store I had to keep chasing my outdoor furniture...I wont even mention the plants I just bought. :( inside though

The corrugated paper is the funnest stuff ever

also fun, the rock (pebble) candles

real sand dollars... from the beaches of Charleston, South Carolina...courtesy of my darling sister, Sue. She actually had to get the little guy out before she could clean and bleach them. Yuck.

The Queen's crown. Light the candles and pour the wine.

Layer it on. Change it up.

Time for a refresh. Have you ever looked at an area in your house and thought I am done looking at that mess.   Or maybe it's just time...
