Gardening - Miller style

3 little pots in a box. I was trying to think of something witty to title this post... I've got nothing.
I went to Linder's Garden center close out the other day and picked up some grasses, ten pots of red grasses to be exact. How fun does that sound. Everything is so dramatic in large numbers. After I got the pots to the shop I was kicking myself for not buying ten more. I forget just how big the Barn is with the huge ceilings and wide open space.

I didn't want to re-pot all the grasses and I didn't want to leave them in the ugly plastic pots, so I did the next best thing. I funked them up. Miller style. A little brown bag and my favorite, twine.

plain brown paper for the table runner...sweet

Aren't the brown paper wrappers the best!!? All rumpled and crumpled.

Raining again today. Beautiful black rolling clouds. No hail - thank God. More pictures soon, I just received a large order from one of my favorite vendors, and opened up the back of the store after some large sofas left. Play time for me.

Jeanne d' Arc Living ~ Hot, Hot, Hot

Jeanne d' Arc Living
I am placing a new Jeanne d' Arc Living order, from Denmark, today. It takes about 3 weeks for the hand made textiles to be produced, and then another 3 - 4 weeks ?? for things to move through customs. I am hoping things are here late August or early September.

In this post, I am featuring my Danish wares in this quaint setting.
the extra large metal container makes a great side table

I love how this whole grouping came together...it would look great in my kitchen on the other side of the dining table.

love ~ love ~ love

Many of these items shown above are the last of the bunch. Either they have been sold out on the companies end, or I have chosen not to reorder. I like to keep things unique and one of a kind. "Buy it when you see it" is our line here at the Barn.
This week has been cold and gloomy... I need SUN.

Vintage Garden

New fun greens mixed with my funky finds makes for a fun vintage garden.

Oh my. My sweet pouting terracotta boy looks down right sinister. Yikes.
He actually is very sweet. Really, I have sold many.

Old metal, rusty basket, flowers, white dishes... a garden extravaganza.

My white pottery is moving fast.

2 left...

More to come. Stay tuned. Have a bright and sunny weekend. L

vintage dress form obsession

Crooked. Bent. Dusty. Love.

I am sure as I continue to post you are feeling my love for the vintage dress form. I now am the proud owner of 6 lovely ladies. Oh yeah. Six. This princess, well maybe I should refer to her as the Queen because she is surely the oldest. The Queen, I found at Curious Sofa. Yes, Curious Sofa, Debbie Dusenberry's Curious Sofa. So I traveled a distance to find her. It was love at first sight... crooked, rusty and dusty...love at first sight.

Picture frames, corbels, garden statuary and an old trunk from the 20's, who could ask for anything more.

Happy Birthday Suz.
I bet you can't guess what's shipping your way. :)
...oh, and I apologize, it'll be a day or two late, sorry. You know my schedule at the Barn has been crazy... things are happening.
To everyone else, happy to you!

One man's junk...

One man's junk, as they say, is another women's treasure. Oh the goods I have found.
Mix it up with a dash of this and a pinch of that and we are set up for the perfect vignette.
As you can see I am into vintage books. The trashier the better... torn and tattered that is.

The basket is new. A reproduction from a great company I found a few years ago that makes architectural and garden reproductions.

Big transitions at the Barn. As I finish up the summer season and get ready to move into fall you will start to notice big changes with great new finds.

Crate it...

Crates and jars and beautiful dishes. Old. New. Black. White. I'm not exactly sure why, when people come into the Barn, they stop and linger at this table. Are they drawn to the vintage crate, the beautiful black and white dishes, the vintage jar that is filled with old treasures, the garden statuary that looks perfectly comfortable inside, on the table top? A combination of all? Or is it just my imagination? I'm not sure, so I thought I would share a couple of shots with you.

It is a fabulous day / weekend here in Minnesota.
Time is short. Gotta run. Thanks for stopping by. L

Layer it on. Change it up.

Time for a refresh. Have you ever looked at an area in your house and thought I am done looking at that mess.   Or maybe it's just time...
