Peace and Serenity

Peace and Serenity... you walk in the door and you are greeted by peace and serenity. I don't care what it is or how it is displayed, black and white together are dramatic on one hand and calming on the other. I have caught many of my customers just standing and staring at this vignette. Love , love, love!

This display in the entryway makes a statement. Remember, first impressions make lasting impressions. A mother and daughter came into the store the other day, stopped and made that noise of pleasure...I'm not sure how to say it but it's like a sucking in of air -noise with a high pitched aaah. You know, when you see something you love, you want to squeal, but you tone it down a bit.... I said, "oh, you have not been here before?" They looked at me and said, "no, how did you know?" They both had smiles on their faces. It's the reaction. It gives it away every time. The first timers fall instantly in love. :) We are here to inspire and impress. It is why you all return. It is why I do what I do, for the reaction. I LOVE IT.

Vintage jewelry, vintage mirror...every girl's dream.

what's inside your drawers? ;) L

Celebrities in our mist

How fun does this look! I don't know about anyone else, but I had a blast. Sue Whitney and Kimberly Melamed are the nicest, most down to earth, celebrities I have ever hung out with. Well, maybe the only celebrities I have ever hung out with. Anyway, it was a fun afternoon and if you missed the party I am so sorry, because we had fun!

Royal Star

Magnolia stellata 'Royal Star'
Happy Mother's day to me !! My boys and my lovely husband presented me with this funky plant - bush - small tree ? on Mother's day. smile, I love it.
The Royal Star Magnolia is a spectacular, large shrub or small tree with large, showy, fragrant, star - shaped white flowers appearing before leaves in spring. Full to partial sun. cold hardiness -10 to -20 F
I saw this one blooming down the street so I know it can survive our harsh, long winters.

Isn't it the cutest thing.

I can't wait to get mine in the ground. Since it has only green leaves now and for the rest of summer, I bought large white hydrangeas to surround it and keep it company. Pictures of my gardens soon.
Now to get ready for the Sale.

went to a garden party ~ part 2

A customer came into the store yesterday and said, "oh my God, you own this! You have attained the dream of everyone who comes in here!" She is right. Some days, I need a SLAP...Hello! This store is a good thing! A great thing, actually. Pinch, pinch...is it a dream? Believe me, it's not all play time and it is extremely expensive to maintain and keep a store this size filled with merchandise. But on the flip side there is nothing like going on a buying trip and unloading a truck load of Junk ;) and then reusing, repurposing, recreating and re-vignetting...and then watching it go out the door with customers that really appreciate what we do here. It is, in a way, like entertaining at home. You prepare and make everything just so, making your guests feel welcome, comfortable and at home, while showcasing your creativity and enjoying every minute of being the center of attention. :))
Our Garden Party is May 14 - 17

I am surprised the ladder is still here...

I added these pictures of my favorite chandelier, as I decided I was going to keep it for myself, it sold - right under my nose...ugh! I'll have to find another... :))

Center stage...a table and chair...somewhere in this vignette...for Sue Whitney to do her book signing...May 16

burlap strips and naked lamp shades...I'm trying to decide if I need a few crystals...art in progress.

the books are not for sale... find some old books, remove the covering, soak in water and let dry...repeat the soaking if they don't plump up enough the first time. :))

I'm pinching myself... I am the owner of all of this...unreal!

Layer it on. Change it up.

Time for a refresh. Have you ever looked at an area in your house and thought I am done looking at that mess.   Or maybe it's just time...
